5 July: Day Fourteen
Our Itinerary for the Day:
Our Last Adventures...
It was fun to end back up in Dublin. After the two weeks circling Ireland, it felt like we were coming back to home base. We didn't want to waste our last few hours in Dublin, yet we also didn't want to pack in every thing we hadn't seen. As Rick always says...we will assume we are coming back!
We started the morning off with a stroll through Merrion Square seeing the Oscar Wilde statue before making our way to the Georgian House Museum. The museum was a glimpse into one of those large stately homes and we had fun looking at our own pace. We also took care of our tourist duty of finding our last fun souvenirs and relaxing over a fun lunch before we enriched our brain with a couple more museums. All of the National museums we went in were free and fairly manageable in size. So it was perfect to step inside, take a little stroll around, see a few of the notable items and move on. The Bog Men at the Archaeology museum were amazing, if not a bit creepy. The second floor at the Natural History museum was a bizarre "zoo" of taxidermy which gave us some laughs. And then our time came to an end...we headed back to the hotel to pack up our suitcases. Our final adventure was our taxi cab drive on the way to the airport! The driver had us laughing with his Irish humor the entire way. If the trip had to end, then leaving with a smile on our faces was the way to go! |
