29 June: Day Eight
Cliffs of Moher
The Cliffs of Moher will forever remind me of Bailey's Irish Cream. Interesting connection, right? This is because Declan gathered us all for a wee bit of Irish cream and a toast before we got to explore the beautiful cliffs. Only the Irish would give you alcohol before letting you walk along paths with sheer drops to the ocean. Luckily we didn't lose anyone from our group! (Although it is amazing that in many of the places there are not barriers keeping crazy people from the edge!) The leprechauns smiled down upon us once again with incredible weather.

The Burren
If the Cliffs of Moher are the quintessential Ireland, then the Burren feels like you have been transported to the moon! The rocky landscape was so unusual. It was almost unbelievable that they use it to graze the cows for part of the year.
Those poor cows must be hungry!

Arrival in Galway
After being in the smaller towns, Galway felt like a metropolis. The group was split between three B&Bs here, all right next to each other. Our B&B hostess was so lovely and left us several yummy treats each day!
Declan again chose a fun restaurant for our group dinner and gave us a brief overview of Galway. |
